Gracie

Gracie was uniquely marked with her black head and face – a champion Pointer winning many times.   She came to live with me when she befriended my Lab Shamus and it became evident she had no intention of being a Show Girl any longer.  She was like that – intelligent, determined and stubborn in a stunningly, confident way.  She truly believed she was Princess Grace.

Since the earthquakes though, which she always sensed were coming, she was hesitant to go walking away from home and lost more and more mobility.   The last weeks were difficult, with her often stumbling and behaving as if she was lost.  But then she stopped eating, then drinking and I knew what was ahead.

From that first magnificent day of freedom when she bolted for miles down the beach and back, she had a wonderful life.

I love her deeply to my soul.
